The Ascendant Swordsman: The Brotherhood Rises (The Ascendant Swordsman #1)

Magnus is a young man forged by the horrors of war. He was trained to wield a blade as soon as he was strong enough to lift one. After the death of his father, hatred and a thirst for revenge became his guiding purpose.

When his homeland falls to an overwhelming and ruthless enemy, he escapes hoping to reclaim the freedom stolen from his people. Finding himself among a group of peaceful people, he learns a new way of life. Yet, his conscience could not be satisfied while others remained in bondage, unable to experience the freedom he had found.

As he mounts a rebellion to free the people of the land he discovers more than he bargained for. A mysterious relic begins to draw Magnus into secrets buried for centuries. Can he sort through the chaos and control the power, or will he be consumed by it?

Gathering allies wherever he can, Magnus's rebellion grows. But rebellion breeds distrust and betrayal. Even as victory seem within reach, a hidden enemy begins to stir.
